Casual Back To School Outfit Essentials

It's hard to believe that school is already starting up again soon but at least it gives me an excuse to do a little shopping! This summer was a bit of a whirlwind between my two jobs and blogging but I'm looking forward to heading back to school in the fall and starting a new semester. I'll be honest, I'll take any excuse to go shopping but a new semester merits a fresh start in all aspects. It's a tradition of mine to head to my local mall and pick out a few pieces that I'll enjoy wearing to school throughout the year. This year, I'm focusing on staple pieces.  In the past, I've purchased bright printed shorts or white dresses that aren't practical for every season so this time around I'm making changes. Staple pieces are the most practical additions to anyone wardrobe and I find that I get the most use out of the basics. Basic pieces are easy to wear interchangeably as the seasons shift from one to another and they will match with just about anything. These items aren't just limited to school. You can also wear plenty of these pieces to casual workplaces too. Here are casual back to school outfit essentials!

I'm starting with shoes because I'm a total shoe addict. Shoes are the first piece I think of purchasing and my most exciting accessory. Lately, I've been really into street style and I especially love sneakers. My go-to pair of sneakers is Adidas. I bought a new pair earlier this summer and I wear them on repeat! I love how classic and comfortable they are and I can pair them with anything because they're black and white. I also really love this blush pink pair of Adidas sneakers. If you follow my Instagram, then you know that blush is one of my favorite colors. I'm thinking of adding this pair to my shoe collection for the spring! I've also recently purchased a pair of chunky white sneakers from Steve Madden. They're completely out of my element, but I'm slowly transitioning my style and these will be so much fun to style!

I love a good pair of denim shorts. I wear high-waisted denim shorts basically every day during the summer and the first few months of school while the weather is still too warm to wear pants. I usually purchase shorts from Marshalls or Forever 21 because I find the best deals there and I love the fit of their selections. You also can't go wrong with striped or paper bag shorts from Shein. Those have been really in style this season, and I can't wait to pick up a few pairs for school!

Pants & Leggings
Even though I don't see myself wearing pants for a little while until the heat cools off, it's necessary to buy a few pairs of jeans and leggings for colder weather! I usually wear leggings more than jeans if we're being honest and Adidas has the most comfortable pairs. I love the logo on the side and black is really easy to style with other athletic wear. For jeans, I usually purchase mine from J.Crew Factory or H&M!

Dresses & Skirts
I found myself wearing dresses a lot this summer and I think that's going to continue this fall too. It's so easy to just throw on a quick dress and head out for school or work. Easy dresses to style are neutral pieces like white or chambray. I've also been loving tennis skirts. They're very trendy and so cute for school! This piece from Adidas is my favorite but I've also found similar ones at Forever 21 and on Amazon!

I like to be comfortable while I'm at school and these two Adidas tops are perfect. I especially love the cropped one because you can easily style it with high-waisted skirts, shorts or pants and then pair it with a pair of sneakers I mentioned earlier in the post. Besides the Adidas tops, I've also had my eye on several tops from Forever 21 and Shein, two of my go-to stores. I love purchasing simple crop tops that can go with just about everything. It's also fun to add a little jacket or sweater in case the classroom is chilly.

I'm a huge fan of accessories. I love picking out accessories to wear almost as much as I love picking out shoes. Some of the trendiest accessories right now are chunky gold hoop earrings (or really any hoop earrings for that matter) and layered gold necklaces. Both of these pieces are light, simple and fun to pair with any outfit. I recently purchased this necklace from the Wild Fable collection at Target and these are my favorite hoop earrings from Shein.

Thank you so much for reading and good luck with your new school year! As always, everything is linked for you to shop. I also included an extra widget filled with my favorite Adidas picks that are perfect for school, exercising or dressing casually.
