Blog and Style Update

For the past several weeks or so, I've been lacking inspiration. Maybe because midterms were full-force and I basically spent every waking minute working on tasks for my internship or studying for upcoming tests, but I am behind on blogging and shopping regardless.

Since I'm now home for spring break, one of my first tasks at hand was to clean out my closet. I have wanted to do this for a while now, but I can never manage to find the time to do it when I'm home from school because I am usually working or trying to catch up on homework assignments. This time around, I wanted to get my cleaning out of the way early so it is not looming over me for the entire break. After looking through my spring and summer clothing, I realized that I don't really like most of the items in my closet lately. I haven't had the motivation to come up with outfits to take pictures in, and quite honestly, I haven't really wanted to take pictures anyway.

Usually, I try to post on my Instagram once a day. For the most part, I am pretty successful with this task, but lately I have not been feeling up to posting or writing blog posts. I think this also ties back to the need to update my wardrobe. Most of my clothes aren't exciting me recently, and I haven't felt like taking pictures in my outfits. When I am wearing something that I love, there usually seems to be some reason why I can't take pictures that day. Whether it is because of bad weather, lack of time, or no one around to take my pictures, my posting schedule has been off for the past week or two.

Although my blog is my favorite hobby, it is not my only responsibility and it often has to come second to my other obligations. Even though this is not what I want, I know that I have to focus my energy on school, work, and my internship first. Lately, after finishing up all of my other work for the day, the last thing I have wanted to do was edit pictures or write blog posts and it was starting to feel like another responsibility versus a hobby. One of my goals is to stop putting so much pressure on myself to post every single day in hopes of making it big like the other bloggers. While I would eventually like to get paid to post photos and write blog posts one day, that is not the reason I started my blog and it is not the reason that I still have it.

Writing and styling outfits are creative outlets for me and I want to get back to the mindset that I had when I first created my blog, which was to inspire people and be inspired by others. I think it's only natural to take a break from social media once in a while and to become tired of your wardrobe, especially as styles change. Keeping this in mind, I am going to work towards creating a more versatile wardrobe that I love and a more relaxed posting schedule to avoid feeling burnt out again.

Xoxo,
Nicolette
