September Recap

September is over, and October is well on its way now. Although September is not a favorite month of mine because it usually drags, this past month seemed to have flown by. A lot has happened in this month and I am excited to share it with you all!

This September, I started a new semester of college. Getting back into the swing of things always takes some time, but I think I adjusted nicely to my new suite and my new housemates. I am beyond fortunate to be living in one of the new dorms on my campus with my best friend. With these particular dorms, I even have my own bedroom! Since my friend and I applied for housing as a pair, we also received two other housemates. Luckily, the housemates I received are amazing to live with, and I'm really enjoying my semester with them thus far.

As far as classes go, I'm taking five classes and an internship. My classes are a bit more rigorous this semester than the past one, but I know I have what it takes to complete all of my work. I am enrolled in a magazine layout and design course this semester, and my class is designing our own magazine. My group's magazine is going to be about sustainable fashion and lifestyle. Although this is something I'm not all that familiar with, I would love to learn more about it as the semester progresses. I have always been interested in healthy eating and I am slowly progressing towards veganism as the year progresses, so this magazine will be very informative for me. This semester, I am also continuing my fashion writer internship from the previous summer. I recently wrote two blog posts about New York Fashion Week and you can check them out here: https://www.clichemag.com/fashion/badgley-mischka-and-francesca-liberatore-stun-at-nyfw

I have also started looking into perspective internships for next semester. Since I want to be involved in the magazine industry, I am predominantly looking into magazine writing internships. There is a local magazine close to my college that I am aiming to intern with, and I am really excited to interview there and tour the newsroom in the next few months.

As far as extracurriculars go, I have taken on the roll of vice president for The Society of Professional Journalists chapter at my college. Thus far, I have co-hosted three meetings with my fellow e-board members and I am really enjoying it. Journalism is something I am passionate about, and I love having the chance to share this passion with my fellow classmates. We are thinking of doing an investigative podcast series this semester, which should be interesting and obtain more publicity than a normal article because podcasts are on the rise.

Southern Girl Prep accepted me to be one of their fall reps for the 2017 semester. I am completely ecstatic to have received this position, and I can't wait to post fun content with the adorable products they sent me. If you want to shop Southern Girl Prep, use my code "thepinkprep15off" for 15% off of your purchases!!! Jacob Wallace Designs, an etsy company, also hired me as a brand rep for the fall semester. I will be receiving a monogrammed Lilly Pulitzer stocking, and I can't wait to start posting festive photos as the semester progresses. I've applied to a few more brand rep positions so we shall see how that goes in the future.

Thanks for taking the time to read this recap! I'm looking forward to doing more recaps in the future.

Xoxo,
Nicolette
